Scottish country dancing  is a form of social dance that became popular in the 18th century in England and Scotland. It is a past time activity for thousands of Scottish country dancers all over the world. It involves a group of  six or eight people doing reels, jigs and strathspeys under the strain of music played on accordions, fiddles, flutes, etc.

It is a social dance because interaction between dancers is an essential part of Scottish country dancing. You don't only dance with your partner but also with the rest of the team.

I had the opportunity to attend the Upper Hutt Scottish Country Dance Club Tea Dance and watch them perform. Though my photos and videos are done by an amateur, I would like to share them with you.
